Montavilla Brew Works bar top & cabinets

Montavilla Brew Works was recently included in the Willamette Week list of Portland's best IPAs. It's a great neighborhood hangout with an excellent selection of microbrews and I'm proud to have my work on display there. I worked with owner and brew master Michael Kora to design the bar tops and cabinets before the brewery …

Built-in Cabinet for Old Portland House.

This Old Portland home was built by my architect friend's great uncle back in the late 19th century, in the Goose Hollow neighborhood, with a beautiful view of downtown, Mt. Saint Helens and Mt. Adams. My friend managed to buy the house and bring it back into his family, and we started to restore the …

“Rangory” china cabinet

Use your tax refund wisely! Invest in a unique piece of furniture that will last for generations. I just finished this china cabinet and now the shop is ready for custom orders. The wood for this cabinet came from a tree in NE Portland (thanks to Bob Phillips!), cut down 20 years ago, which hadn't …

New collection inspired by reclaimed Senboku blocks

I recently acquired a dozen blocks of hardwood originally used in the port of Senboku, Japan (according to the stamps on the side of some blocks). As I planed the wood, I discovered a surprising array of colors and figures emerging from the dark outer surface. This interesting wood inspired the new collection below. Kambana …

The Making of a dining table

Aril 28, 2013 I set myself a goal to finish this project in around 125 hours (approx. 2-3 weeks). I'm just going through the last few stages of the building process now and I think I am still on target for my goal. A few things still need to be done: - Fitting the pulls …

The making of a dining table

April 23, 2013 Now that the frames are assembled, it's time to start cutting the veneered panel for the top. I needed to cut the panels square, which was a bit challenging to cross cut something almost 4-feet wide. I bought two metal squares from Woodpecker tools to clamp my Festool rail to create a …

Storage Cabinet #2

I was excited to find a new supply of locally-harvested Northwest hardwoods recently, and put some to use right away with this new Storage Cabinet I built for my chiropractor. This cabinet features adjustable shelves and sliding doors, and was built from one slab of big leaf maple and veneered maple ply. Dimensions: 18″ (d) x …
