Welcome to Mimy Designs Woodworking

From a young age, I’ve always been fascinated with drawing buildings and geometric shapes, taking things apart and trying to put them back together.

After studying Music Performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, I moved to the Bay Area and decided to pursue my interest in woodworking at Laney College. The program also helped me land a job at Berkeley Mills, one of the best custom woodworking shops in California, where I gained experience veneering kitchens, running the CNC machine and learning from master woodworkers.

We moved back to Portland in 2010, and when not touring as a drummer and percussionist with several bands, I started my own woodworking business. Over the years, I have built up my shop and now have a fully equipped one-man shop.

I build custom furniture and cabinetry, working closely with clients to create the perfect pieces for their needs. I also recently started making a Foldable Cajon for traveling drummers and percussionists.

I want to help you build a beautiful piece of furniture that fits your style and will be functional in your home, while ensuring that your environment is free from toxic chemicals. I use low-VOC products to ensure the safety of the whole family and source most of my materials from local businesses.

You can explore the Services page to learn what I can offer for your home or workplace. For more inspiring designs, please visit my Portfolio. And if you are interested in the woodworking process, the Video page shows a few of the techniques and tools I use.
